RAC – We didn’t see that coming. [EP Listening]

RAC we didn’t see that coming.

Last week we were invited to a pretty cool event, by our boy over at Interscope, a DJ set by DJ RAC and a first listen to his EP Don’t Talk To. We hadn’t realized we ever heard his name, but turns out DJ RAC remixes everything, that means we have heard a remix by him more than once. Listen to a bunch of his remixes on his Soundcloud page here.

The gig took place at Bardot in Hollywood, an open-air roof-top venue, with a chill yet totally Hollywood vibe. The crowd was hipster, Hollywood, and interesting to say the least. Something we noticed and loved about the whole night was the lack of pretentious douchebags that Hollywood venues seem to always have roaming them. So the vibe was set and we were ready to see what RAC was all about.

RAC started by actually doing a live set and it sounded rad! We say live set because our experience has been that DJs come ready with a pre-mixed set, totally taking away from the reason we went to see them in the first place, to see their skills in action.

So we chilled, drank some awesome CherryTree Cola (get it?!) and discussed music amongst ourselves.

It was a great way to absorb and connect with new music. RAC finished his set off with the music video for his debut single “Let Go”. This transitioned straight into a listening of RAC’s EP and each track had a pull on us like we didn’t expect at all. One of our absolutely favorites, that made us stop mid conversation, was “Hollywood” (feat. Penguin Prison), it just has a beat and sound that we totally vibe with and you will too.
