Check out this new track, “Arrows“, and let me introduce you to Fences, a Seattle based alt-pop band led by Christopher Mansfield, that Mackelmore and Ryan Lewis have teamed up with to create something new, totally different from the norm for Macklemore (well norm for new fans), but so so so good.
The track serves as promo for Fences’ upcoming album ‘Lesser Oceans‘, which will be the first album with some serious attention with support from superstar Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. The track gives me vibes of Macklemore’s track “Otherside“. Which actually Mansfield co-wrote, along with another amazing track, “10,000 Hours” off Macklemore’s album ‘The Heist‘.
Macklemore had this to say to Billboard:
Fences is a good friend. He’s fu—d up in the same way that I’m f—-d up. Because of that, our lives relate beyond the music. I’ve always admired his talent for illustrating with words and evoking imagery. We’ve made a bunch of stuff together over the years and this here song about Arrows is my favorite one we’ve done.
